Therapy for Adults
Therapy for adults at Shared Journey Psychology is a collaborative process that supports
both understanding and change.
People often seek therapy when things begin to feel overwhelming, stuck, or harder to manage alone. This may relate to anxiety, mood, emotion regulation, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, or past experiences that continue to shape the present.
Therapy offers space to slow down and make sense of what is going on. Together, we explore how it connects to your life and what might help things move in a different direction.
Therapy is tailored using an integrative approach, drawing on evidence-based frameworks to suit your needs. The focus is on developing deeper understanding, learning new skills where helpful, and supporting changes that feel meaningful and sustainable within the context of your life. Some people come with clear goals. Others arrive unsure where to begin. Both are welcome.
Individual therapy sessions usually involve regular scheduled appointments that take place in our light-filled rooms in Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula or via Telehealth online. Sessions move at a pace that feels manageable, with space to feel safe, heard, and understood.
Common concerns we work with include:
- Anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, and panic
- Depression and persistent low mood
- PTSD, complex trauma and the ongoing impact of adverse life experiences
- Emotion regulation difficulties
- Relationship patterns that feel distressing or hard to change
- Women health and perinatal mental health
- Significant life transitions and identity changes (such as adjusting to parenthood, mid-life, menopause and its impacts)
- Grief and Loss
- Self-criticism, perfectionism, or difficulties with setting boundaries
- Feeling stuck in patterns that feel hard to change
